It produces an air-fuel mixture of the appropriate composition in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. This means that fuel is metered in the carburettor, then it is evaporated and mixed (the fuel vapours mix with the air), and afterwards the right amount of the mixture thus created is delivered through the intake manifold to the cylinder. The carburettor is part of the fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine. It is operated by pressing the accelerator pedal. For the carburettor to work, Bernoulli’s principle must be applied in practice, according to which, at the point where the channel narrows (where the air flows), a pressure difference occurs, and this causes the suction of the fuel that is delivered through the jet.
